Last weekend, eight of our students partook in the BJJ Tour San Francisco 2025 tournament. Each of them had a goal of putting their preparation to the test, whether it was their first tournament or another step in their Jiu-Jitsu journey. These tournaments give our students the opportunity to measure their growth, resilience, and understand the lessons they've learned along the way.
Here's a breakdown of our students' matches:
Successes and Lessons at BJJ Tour San Francisco 2025
Ryder Grassi came prepared and hungry for the challenge. In a 2-competitor bracket, he won first match by submission and also won 2nd match by points (16-0) securing a gold medal by winning best 2 out of 3.
Lily Enkhbold competed in her second ever tournament in San Francisco. After winning her first match by sumbission, she fell in the finals by points and finished with a silver medal.
Tommy Palma made his tournament debut with confidence. While he didn't make it to the podium, he demonstrated his heart and dedication during his matches.
Camila Lopez entered a round robin bracket for her second tournament, where she won first match by points (9-2) and was edged out in the final by another Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu competitor, which placed her with a silver medal for the day.
Leo Munkhjin continued to build his competition experience. He was focused and technical in his division and won his 2 matches by points (4-0 and 14-0), which earned him a gold medal.
Matthew Palma partook in his second Jiu-Jitsu tournament and was the sole competitor in his bracket. While he spent weeks preparing for the tournament, he found himself without an opponent for a consolation match. He was declared the winner of his bracket by default and continued to support his teammates during the day.
Emma Munkhjin demonstrated a high level of focus and precision in her matches and smoothly sailed through a 3-competitor bracket. She won both of her matches by submission and brought home another well-earned gold medal.
Mila De Claro competed in her first ever tournament with a first tournament against 3 other competitors. She put forth great effort and ultimately lost her first match by points and second match by submission. While she didn't reach the podium this time, she demonstrated great resiliency and determination to help her prepare for her next competition.
Reflecting on the Weekend
In this tournament, our academy competed together with one of our sister Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu affiliate schools from South San Francisco. Together, our Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu team placed FIRST out of 90+ academies in the Kids Gi and No-Gi division. With a total of 14 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, the team accrued a whopping 155 points, 57 points over the second place team.
Tournaments are about more than the medals earned. They are about the goals our students set for themselves, the fortitude to put their knowledge to the test, and learning lessons along the way. We are incredibly proud of our competitors and how well they've done in the first half of the 2025 competition season. As we head into the second half of the year, we cannot wait to see how much more our students grow on their respective journeys. We want to say a big thank you to all the coaches, teammates, family, and friends that continue to support our students!
We're closing the first half of the 2025 tournament season, and we can't wait to see what the second half brings!
