Last weekend marked Ryder Grassi's IBJJF competition debut at IBJJF's Sacramento Fall Kids International Open 2025, and what an incredible debut it was! In competing for his first time on one of the biggest stages in Jiu-Jitsu, he showcased the result of hard work, diligent preparation, and composure under pressure.
Stepping Onto the Mats at IBJJF Sacramento Kids 2025
For many athletes, stepping onto the mats at their first IBJJF tournament can feel like a whole other level of intensity. It comes with a professional atmosphere, along with high-caliber competitors and a strict set of rules. This did not deter Ryder one bit as he took to the mat calm and focused.
In his division, Ryder demonstrated excellent control and technique throughout his two matches. His problem-solving skills, timing, and transitions reflected the countless hours spent drilling at the academy and home leading up to the tournament. After winning his first match by points (16-0) and second match by armbar submission, he secured his first IBJJF gold medal in his debut appearance.
Looking Back To Look Forward
Competing at IBJJF is not only about testing skill — it’s about growth, mindset, and learning how to perform under pressure. This gold medal is a reflection of consistent effort, along with the support of the teammates and coaches who helped prepare him for this moment.
We are incredibly proud of how Ryder represented our academy and the Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu family — both on and off the mats. Congratulations to Ryder on his first IBJJF gold medal! This is just the beginning of what's to come!
